Rebekah Pawlowycz

Artist's Bio

Rebekah Pawlowycz is a Nottingham based artist, reaching the end of her studies as a Fine Art undergraduate at Nottingham Trent University. Pawlowycz’s eclectic and playful sculptural language explores material interactions with a focus on textile perspectives. Growing in the Yorkshire Countryside instilled a love and appreciation of process and material from a young age; being taught to sew and knit by my dressmaker Grandmother set in motion a lifetime love for working with fabrics.

By playfully combining disparate objects, materials, references and colours Pawlowycz creates humorous sculptures that explore material interaction and familiarity. She draws influence from pop culture and the materials themselves, seeking out eccentric items of second-hand clothing as the basis for her sculptures.

Whilst studying at Nottingham Trent, Pawlowycz was part of the collective, The After Party putting on a two day show with ideas surrounding student culture. As part of her installation for this show Pawlowycz produced a series of printed bedsheets that she then went on to sell commercially.

Upon completion of her undergraduate degree Pawlowycz intends on pursuing a Masters in Art
